1. A brief introduction to the centre including Aim/objectives / purpose.
The UGC NET Coaching Centre for SC, ST, BCs and Minorities provides coaching for the SC/ST and Minority Community candidates for appearing in the National Educational Testing (NET) so that sufficient number of candidates becomes available for selection of Lecturers in the University System. However, the UGC has stipulated that women candidates can take the coaching irrespective of their social background. Therefore the Centre provides coaching to women students of the University and also to women in the community who wish to take the examination. Coaching is free of charge for all candidates. Coaching schemes are being run throughout the year as per the need and the candidates of all categories are accommodated. Books and other reading materials are also given to those attending the classes. Coaching is given by dividing the candidates into various groups, consisting of 25 candidates in each paper, and each group is monitored by the Head of the department of the subject concerned. The Centre conducts coaching in two spells, for students from both within the University and from the community. The press releases are issued to let the students from the community know the details regarding the classes. The Centre engages the services of teachers, both in service and retired faculty members from the University or Post-graduate Departments of Colleges, who volunteer to teach in the concerned subjects or papers. The Coordinator of the Centre maintains coordination between different groups of students and faculty members to ensure effective implementation of the coaching program.
