The National Service Scheme (NSS) was initiated in 1969 by the Government of India during the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation. Dedicated to fostering student development through community service, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) embraced NSS in 1984, starting with 5 units and currently functioning with 22 units.
Reflecting a profound commitment to vulnerable sections in the community, SPMVV's NSS volunteers exemplify the spirit of selfless service, working relentlessly to make a positive societal impact. The NSS CELL at SPMVV takes pride in acknowledging that numerous Programme Officers and volunteers have received awards from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for their outstanding contributions. Notably, Ms. K. Anjali was honored with the prestigious Indira Gandhi National Award in 2016 and Ms. Jyostna has received State Best NSS Volunteer Award for the year 2022. Our Program Officers acted as Contingent leaders on various occasions at State and national level
The engagement of SPMVV's NSS volunteers extends beyond the local community, with participation in National events such as the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi, Adventure Camps, National Integration Camps, Youth festivals etc. Their involvement includes raising awareness, organizing health camps, and providing assistance to the needy during tragic natural calamities. This multifaceted approach underscores the university's dedication to empowering women and youth in the community through impactful extension activities.
