The Department of Psychology was established by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Jamuna Duvvuru in the academic year 2020-2021 at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (Women’s University), Tirupati as a Post graduate Department. The Department offers Post-graduate (M.Sc.) courses viz., Clinical Psychology and Counselling Psychology with an objective to acquire knowledge in human behaviour and train the students with a special focus on handling pathological or abnormal behaviour and mental health issues. The two year M.Sc. Programme covers Bio, Psycho-Physiological & Social foundations of Behaviour, Personality, Research Methodology, Developmental Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Counselling Psychology as applied course with intense practicum & internship. The Department also conduct extension activities to cater to the needs of women in crisis, extends Couple and family counselling. The department also established Toll free covid19 Distress counselling Helpline in 2020, and is being continued for online counselling & guidance services. The 2years course includes site/field visits and internship in Psychiatric Departments along with the laboratory practicum. The students are placed in the Centre for Women Safety and Wellness Centre of SPMVV during their course work.

Eligibility : Any Sciences Graduate are eligible to get admission. B.A. Psychology / B.Sc. Psychology /B.Sc. Home science/ Social work (BSW)/ Physiotherapy (BPT)/ B.Sc. Nursing /B.Ed. with Psychology as one subject on average of 50% marks.
