DEPARTMENT OF BIOSCIENCES AND SERICULTURE
The Department of Sericulture was established in the year 1983 as one of the inception departments of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati. To start with, the department offered Post-Graduate Diploma in sericulture until the academic year 1994 to 1995. Subsequently, during the academic year 1987-1989 Post Graduate degree in Sericulture (M.Sc. Sericulture) was introduced. As the demand for basic sciences had been gradually increased, two basic courses such as M.Sc. Zoology and M.Sc. Botany were launched during the academic years 2003-2004 and 2008-2009 respectively.

The Department established with a mission
    1.      To empower the women students with self- reliance
    2.      To impart need based quality education and
    3.      To enhance the professional and life skills, competitiveness and employability of the students

The Department offers 3 P.G programmes and research programmes.
